Transsion Holdings subsidiary Tecno and the other subsidiary brands has started a big quest on the international market. This year Infinix, one of the subsidiaries, unveiled the premium Infinix Concept Phone 2021 which might launch as Zero X later this year. Similarly, Tecno unveiled its own flagship Tecno Phantom X and has gone in first sale in Nigeria and Kenya.
The Phantom X is the first take on the high end segment from the company under the sub brand Phantom. Usually, the brand has recognition in the emerging market for its the entry–level and mid range smartphones. So, let’s see what the smartphone offers. Also, what will be the price of Tecno Phantom X in Nepal, if and when it launches here.
Tecno Phantom X Overview
Display and Design
Tecno Phantom X, the first smartphone to come under the Phantom branding comes with promising features. It flaunts a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution. It is a 90Hz panel with curved sides. The bezels are minimal which contributes to its premium profile.
The back panel of the device harnesses a matte texture available in Starry Night Blue and Monet’s Summer colorways. A vertical quad cameras module is placed at the center top which also encloses a LED flash. Similarly, the power button and the column keys are placed on the right side of the handset whereas the 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB Type-C and a speaker grill resides on the bottom.
Further, the display as well as the back panel is protected with a Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Also, the display is integrated with a fingerprint scanner which can unlock the phone in just 0.4 seconds.
Furthermore, the smartphone runs Android 11 straight out of the box with Tecno HiOS running on top.
The main headline of this smartphone are cameras. In the main department, Tecno has paid for a 50MP main camera with a large 1/1.3-inch sensor with 1.2um native pixels that grow to 2.4um with binning. The sensor features a Dual Pixel and Laser autofocus with an f/1.85 aperture.
The second camera is a 13MP telephoto sensor with a 50mm lens. It offers 2x magnifications and takes the role of portrait camera. It is the first phone to offer 2x magnification from the company.
Apart from that, there’s a third sensor with 8MP resolution with 120-degree field of view. The camera module also encloses a quad LED flash. Similarly, there’s no any gimmicky 2 MP sensor whose sole purpose is just to increase the camera count.
Moving on, the dual punch hole setup on the front hosts a 48MP camera teamed with an 8MP ultra-wide module with 105 º lens. Assisting the module is a dual LED flash hidden inside the top bezels.
Performance and Memory
The Tecno Phantom X is powered by a MediaTek Helio G85 chipset. It is a 12nm chip with two Cortex-A76 cores and a Mali-G76 MC4 GPU. The smartphone also gets a vapor chamber cooling system which effectively cools the handset up to 3-5º.
Further, the smartphone is offered in a single variant of 8GB memory and 256GB storage.
Battery and Miscellaneous
The Tecno Phantom X is backed by a 4,700mAh battery with 33W fast-charging support. Teccno claims that a 30 minutes charge will pump the battery up to 70%.
