Chip maker Qualcomm has announced its latest 7-series Snapdragon processor- the Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G. It is a 5G enabled gaming processor, the successor to Snapdragon 730G. However, it isn’t meant to replace the company’s more powerful 765/765G processors. But Qualcomm is emphasizing on making 5G accessible with improved performance by replacing the SD730G. The new chip comes with an improved CPU and GPU compared to its predecessor.
The SD750G has an octa-core Kyro 570 processor clocked at 2.2 GHz which Qualcomm says offers up to 20% performance boost over the Kyro 470 in 730G. Also, the Adreno 619 GPU offers 10% better graphics rendering performance (compared to Adreno 618 GPU).
The new chip comes with an integrated X52 5G modem-RF system. It supports both mmWave and sub-6Ghz, SA and NSA modes, TDD, FDD and Dynamic Spectrum Sharing. Likewise, it can hit peak download speed of 3.7Gbps. It is a global 5G chipset with global roaming and multi SIM support.
Qualcomm has included a 5th generation AI engine which offers 20% increase in AI performance and offers 4.0 Trillion Operations Per Second. The updated AI engine allows Qualcomm to support AI-based echo cancellation and Noise Suppression technology. Thus, helps remove background noise effectively. Similarly, it spots always on Qualcomm Sensing Hub, which combines multiple data streams for contextual use-cases.
With this chipset, the camera hardware can record 4K HDR10 video (with HLG) and 4K HDR with bokeh effect. Qualcomm Spectra 355L ISP lets you take crisp, noise-reduced photos and videos. The gaming performance has also been enhanced with select Qualcomm Elite Gaming including Game Color Plus, Adreno Updateable GPU driver and Adreno HDR Fast Blend. They adds color and details to games and renders HDR10 graphics.
The chipset offers high end features at a cheaper price point for consumers. According to Qualcomm the device featuring the processor will be available before the end of 2020. Xiaomi has plans for future devices using the new chipset. Whereas, the Samsung Galaxy A42 announced earlier this month (full specs not unveiled) might be the one to flaunt Snapdragon 750G.
