Overview of Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus
Display and Design
The Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus features a screen size of 6.7 inch which is a slight smaller than Ultra model. The punch-hole Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel has FHD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. The handset comes with rounded corners but a flat screen. It has an aspect ratio of 20:9 and 394 ppi density.
Further, the display has an adaptive refresh rate of 120Hz while rendering in full 1080p resolution. Moreover, it can get super bright with a peak brightness of 1300 nits. Similarly, the contrast has also improved compared to last year’s.
Moving on, the display as well as the rear of the smartphone is protected by the latest Gorilla Glass Victus. Unlike the Ultra model, it doesn’t support S-Pen. Checking the rear panel, the camera module looks similar and holds 3 camera lenses only.
As for the S21 Ultra, the main highlight is the camera module but not in this model. Instead, it shares the same camera modules from last year’s S20 Plus. Even S20 Plus had 4 lenses where S21 Plus has only 3.
The main camera is a 12 MP 26 mm wide sensor with Dual Pixel PDAF. This sensor has OIS as well. The second lens is another 12 MP sensor but it’s an ultra-wide angle lens. It has a 120-degree FOV and is capable of capturing super steady videos. Finally, the 64 MP telephoto lens which has 1.1x optical zoom support. And can be 3x hybrid zoom.
On the front, there’s a 10 MP camera lens with aperture of f/2.2 on the punch hole setup for stunning selfies. Which also has the same lens from the S20 Plus. Furthermore, the handset is capable of capturing 8K footage at 24fps. Similarly, all camera sensors support 4k footage at 60fps.
The smartphone is designed with 8 GB of LPDDR5 RAM paired with 128 GB and 256 GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage. Therefore, Exynos 2100 / Snapdragon 888, LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage type indicates that there’s no compromise in performance. However, the handsets don’t have the SD card slot. The handset operates on One UI 3.1 based on the latest Android version 11.
Moreover, the Exynos 2100 promises to deliver better performance as it has the same architecture as Snapdragon 888. Though, it is not sure how the Mali-G78 MP14 GPU will compete with Adreno 660 or SD 888.
Battery and Miscellaneous
The Galaxy S21 Plus has a 4,800mAh non-removable battery which supports 25W fast charging. It also supports 15W fast wireless charging. This device is capable of 4.5W wireless reverse charging. However, following the footprint of Apple, the box now ships without a charger. Also, some other features are Type-C port, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, Samsung DeX, Bixby, and stereo speakers
