Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Overview
Display and Design
Galaxy Note 20 Ultra has a similar design to Galaxy Note 20, but they have a subtle difference. The Note 20 Ultra is more ambitious with full-fledged glass and metal sandwich design unlike Note 20’s polycarbonate back. Similarly, it is protected by the toughest Gorilla Glass yet. The new Gorilla Glass Victus ensures more safety from drops (survives 2 meters) and scratch resistance (4x better than competitive aluminosilicate).
Moving on, some variant of device has a matte finish on the rear glass, while others have a glossy finish. The color option Mystic Bronze carries matte finish whereas Mystic Black, Mystic White have glossy finish. Similarly, there’s a huge rectangular camera bump colored in matching aesthetics of the rear panel.
Upfront, there is a huge 6.9” QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X curveD display. It comes with 120Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. The display can further dynamically change its refresh rate according to the content – going down to 1Hz for the Always-On Display, hovering at 24Hz for movies, and varying between 30 to 120Hz for gaming as needed. This should have a good impact on maintaining battery life. Similar to back panel the display is also protected by Gorilla Glass 7(Gorilla Glass Victus).
Furthermore, the highlight of the phone – S Pen is shifted to the left. It is IP68 certified.
For photography, the Note 20 Ultra comes with improved triple lens setup than vanilla Note 20. The setup comprises of 108MP main sensor with aperture f/1.8, OIS, PDAF and Laser Autofocus. Complementing the setup there is 12MP ultra-wide camera with 120-degree field-of-view. Finally,12MP periscope telephoto lens capable of 5x optical zoom and 50x digital zoom coplete the setup.
On the front, it has the same 10MP sensor found in Note 20 that rest within the punch-hole.
The 108MP lens in S20 Ultra suffered focusing problems so the correct the issue it is now paired with Laser AF sensor. It produces 12MP photos with binning. Similarly, Samsung has reduced the zooming ability from 100x in S20 Ultra to 50x as the photos were unusable.
The video aspects, you can record 8K footage at 24fps from the rear while the front camera limits to 4K at 60fps. Pro Mode allows to choose a specific microphone in the device or any other microphone connected while recording.
Similar to Note 20, the USA, China and South Korea will receive the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra powered by Snapdragon 865+. Moreover, the rest of the globe will receive Samsung’s homegrown Exynos 990 powered Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.
The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra has 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM teamed up either with 128GB, 256GB or 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage in the 5G variant. Similarly, the LTE models will pack in 8GB of RAM with 256 or 512GB of storage. The storage can be further expanded up to 1TB while the vanilla Note 20 doesn’t feature micro SD card expansion.

The S Pen can also be used for navigation with five new Anywhere actions. By “drawing” shapes in the air you could go Back, open Recent apps, go Home and more.
