In just a week, Samsung will host an event to unveil all the new flagship Galaxy S21 series smartphones. But this flagship isn’t the first device to launch in 2021 by South Korean giant. The company has launched the budget-oriented Samsung Galaxy M02s in Nepal as the first device of 2021. It brings significant upgrades over M01s launched back in September. Display and Design

Starting with the display, the handset features a 6.5” LCD panel. The infinity V notch handset has a HD+ resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels. Whereas its aspect ratio is 20:9.

Around the back, there is a triple camera setup hosted inside the rectangular camera module. The design of is like what we have been seeing in most of M series and A series handsets. Indeed, it is a rebranded version of A02s announced last year. However, the A02s hasn’t been available in market.

Camera

Moving on, the triple camera setup is the group of 13MP primary sensor and two 2MP sensor. The two 2MP sensor is a macro and a dept sensor. The setup is same as M01s however, macro sensor has been added.

Performance and Memory

In the heart of Samsung Galaxy M02s lies an entry level Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chipset. The chipset comes with an octa-core 1.8Ghz cortex-A53 CPU and Adreno 506 GPU. The chipset has decent performance when compared to Helio P22 used in M01s. however, it is not suitable for gaming.

The memory configuration available are 3/32GB and 4/64GB. It can be expanded up the 512GB of storage using microSD card.

Note: The Moto E7 plus available for almost same price range provides upto 70% better performance.

Battery and Miscellaneous

Fueling the device is a massive 5,000mAh battery, which features 15W fast charging support. It is non removable battery and is bigger than its predecessor.

As other entry level smartphone it comes with a micro-USB port and 3.5mm headphone jack. On the downside, Samsung has omitted the fingerprint sensor in the handset.  Finally, on software front it boots on Samsung’s OneUI skin based on Android 10.
