Galaxy Buds Live Overview
The latest Galaxy Buds by Samsung has the most unique design. Earbuds shaped like a bean which fits in the ear perfectly even without the traditional silicon ear tip. The space between the ear canal and the cartilage at the back of the ear, is where the buds fit perfectly. Buds go inside the ear without sticking out much on the outside.
The company claims the earbuds are resistant to slipping out of ears because of the tiny silicone wingtip. Earbuds are small, so as the charging case. Charging case has also come with a new design compared to other galaxy buds. Company says, charging case is inspired through a jewelry box. Making it look exactly like a jewelry box when opened.
Galaxy Buds Live is available in three color options – Mystic Bronze, Mystic White, and Mystic Black. All colors have a glossy finish. And they come with IPX2 rating making it dust and splash resistant.
Sound and Connectivity
Galaxy Buds Live comes with a 12mm sound driver which is tuned by AKG. To enhance lower frequency sound, there is a bass duct. It sounds pretty good compared to Apple’s AirPods.
These buds are compatible with both Android and iOS devices. Users need to download Galaxy Wearable app in Android and Samsung Galaxy Buds in iOS devices. Moreover, it can also be connected with a PC using the Windows 10’s Swift Pair feature. I use Bluetooth version 5.0 to connect over the devices.
The new Galaxy Buds Live comes with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) which was not available in Galaxy Buds+. When ANC is toggled on, it will reduce surrounding noise but lets in the important sounds like voices and announcements. Also, there are two built-in mics for a better and clearer call quality. Samsung has also included a Voice Pickup Unit which will produce voice signals based on the movement of your jaw.
Users can touch and hold for one second to trigger the Spotify shortcut and connect on Spotify. Bixby Voice Wake-Up feature is integrated, can be activated by users voice without having to press anything.
Battery & Endurance
The buds come with a 60mAh battery which can last up to 8 hours if both ANC and Bixby Voice Wake-Up features are turned off. Similarly, it can last up to 6 hours when one of the features is turned on. When both the features are turned on, the Buds Live offers up to 5.5 hours of battery backup.
Similarly, the charging case has 472mAh battery capacity and can provide up to 29, 21, and 20 hours respectively. 5 minutes Quick charge feature provides an hour of playback. It also supports Qi-certified wireless charging.
