Display and Design
The Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Edition features a flexible OLED screen. It measures 6.67 inches and produces an FHD+ resolution. The display features a 120Hz refresh rate and a three-finger 480Hz touch sampling rate. It has a typical brightness of 500nits with a total of 8192 brightness adjustment levels. Also, the panel packs an impressive 10-bit (1.067 billion) colors, HDR10+ support and a DCI-P3 color gamut.
The phone builds upon the design of its siblings from the K40 series, weighs 205g and is 8.3mm thick. It keeps the centered punch-hole display design whereas adds a customizable RGB light to the rear camera module. Also, the phone trades the boring LED flash for a lightning bolt-shaped one. Similarly, it adds retractable shoulder buttons to the frame, and also changed the speaker grille design.
For protection, the back and front panel is covered in a sheet of Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Further, it boasts IP53 rating against dust and water spray.
Performance and Memory
Redmi first gaming phone uses a MediaTek’s Dimensity 1200 processor. The 6nm chipset has 8 cores with four Cortex-A78 performance cores and four Cortex-A55 efficiency cores. After all it is the best chipset from the MediaTek until now it also features a GPU whose drivers can be independently upgraded. We have seen this with some Qualcomm chipsets also. For cooling, the phone uses graphene, graphite, and a vapor chamber.
As for the memory configurations, users can choose between 6GB, 8GB and 12GB of LPDDR4x RAM. Likewise, storage options are 128GB and 256GB of UFS 3.1 memory.
For its cameras, the phone packs a 64MP triple camera setup on the back. It is the first phone in the industry to use an ultra-low dispersion optical glass lens which the company claims performs better than a complete plastic lens. The 64MP f/1.65 sensor measures 1/2” inch and supports 4-in-1 pixel binning. Complementing the lens, is an 8MP ultrawide angle camera with 120°, field of view and a 2MP 40mm macro camera. This setup is capable of recording 1080p and 4K footage at 60 and 30fps respectively.
On the front is a 16MP sensor and the camera app is packed with lots of software features.

The Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Edition gets power from a 5065mAh battery. The phone supports Quick Charge 3.0+ and Power Delivery 3.0. Not only that the company pairs it with 67W fast wired charging with PD compatible charge in the box. It is the fastest charging rate that you can get in a Redmi-branded smartphone. Further, the charger couples with a L-shaped connector so you can charge as well as game simultaneously with ease.
