Nubia has officially launched the Nubia Red Magic 5S, the successor of Red Magic 5G. From August 1, Nubia will start sell of Red Magic 5S in China. The pre-orders have already started by the way. This phone is actually a new gaming phone or just the upgraded and small changes on the predecessor? Let’s find out the full details what Nubia has to offer in this new smartphone.

Nubia Red Magic 5S Overview

Display

Starting with the display, Nubia Red Magic 5S features same 6.65” AMOLED display with 144 Hz refresh rate form the predecessor. It was the first smartphone to feature a 144Hz display. Now, it is adapted many of the gaming smartphones. The panel has a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixel with 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The display has the 240Hz touch sampling and is protected by Gorilla Glass. In addition, there’s a in-display optical fingerprint scanner placed.

Camera

Furthermore, the display has a very tiny bezel on top holding the front camera, earpiece and other sensors. Also, the bottom bezel chin is also tiny. The front camera has 8MP sensor with aperture of f/2.0.

On rear side, there is a triple camera setup having primary lens is of Sony IMX686 64MP sensor. Supporting the primary lens there is an 8MP ultra-wide 13 mm lens having f/2.0 aperture. and a 2MP macro lens

Performance

Checking this side, Nubia Red Magic 5S is powered by same Snapdragon 865 chipset which is we saw in Red Magic 5G. The processor is based on 7nm fabrication process with support for 5G. We get the latest SD 865+ on Asus ROG Phone 3 and even upcoming Lenovo Legion Duel. Nubia might have done some changes on the performance part, as it will show difference while gaming compared to SD865+.

Nubia Red Magic 5S is available in same RAM of 8GB, 12GB and 16GB. Similarly, there are two different storage options as 128GB and 256GB. The only change made on performance is the storage used UFS 3.1. However, main part of debuting this phone was the improvement of internal cooling system.

The new addition is the silver-plated cooling pad as ICE Ag. They believe it cools down faster and work better than the copper heat pipes which is used in most smartphones. But the internal fan used is same with 15,000 RPM.

The phone operates on Redmagic 3.0 based on Android 10 version. Also, the Qualcomm Adreno 650 is not replaced yet as it is the lasted one till now.

Battery

Moving on, it packs a 4,500 mAh battery supporting 55W Fast Charging. Nubia claims 15 minutes to charge from 0% to 56%. And 40 minutes to full charge. When, it is on peak charge mode, the internal fan helps lot to cool down the device.

Likewise, it doesn’t miss the 3.5mm headphone jack. Other features are: Type-C port, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, stereo speakers, and Touch Triggers.

Price of Nubia Red Magic 5S and it’s Availability

Nubia Red Magic 5S is offered in only two colors option this time i.e. Blue/Red and Silver. And it will be available for purchase from August 1 in China. The price of 8/128 GB is placed around CNY 3,799 that is around $542. Similarly, price for 12/256 GB is CNY 4,399 which is about $628. Finally, the top-end with 16GB RAM and 256GB internal storage goes for sale for CNY 4,999 which is around $715.

In Nepalese market, we expect the device to be priced at Rs. 65,000 for 8/128 GB variant. Similarly, Rs. 76,000 and Rs. 86,000 for the 12GB and 16GB variant respectively.

In India, the pricing for Red Magic 5s might be start at INR 40,600.
