MediaTek Dimensity 700 Overview
Much like the Dimensity 720, the new Dimensity 700 is built upon TSMC’s 7nm manufacturing process. It serves an octa-core design. To be specific there are two Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.2GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2GHz.
The new chipset also supports Arm’s Mali-G57 MC2 GPU for graphics. It is the same GPU that you will find in Helio G80 processor which offers modest graphical performance. Also, the chip supports 12GB of LPDDR4x memory up to 2,133MHz and fast UFS 2.2 2-lane storage. Thus, the storage enables 1GB/s data streaming which is 4x faster than a typical mainstream smartphone with eMMC.
According to the company, the 5G modem used supports both 5G carrier aggregation and dual 5G SIM. It enables faster connections (up to 2.77Gbps downlink speeds) and seamless handover between 5G cells. Similarly, the modem also supports dual standby and VoNR (Voice over New Radio, offers better audio quality than previous generations).
Further, the processor features MediaTek’s 5G ULtraSave power saving technology. Likewise, it has Dynamic BWP, Connected mode DRX, UltraSave Network Environment Detection and UltraSave OTA Content Awareness technologies. All these technologies aim in improving battery life while enhancing the 5G connections.
Display and Camera
Moving on the processor can support a 90Hz display with full HD+ resolution of 2,520 x 1,080 pixels. Unfortunately, it doesn’t come with MediaTek’s MiraVision display technology.
In terms of optics, it supports up to 64MP main sensor with several features like multi-frame noise reduction and several AI enhancements.
MediaTek also touts the obligatory Google Assistant support along with ones from Alibaba, Baidu and Tencent. The chip will also include Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity.
MediaTek Dimensity 700 Chipset Availability
The Dimensity 700 powered phone will be seen in the first quarter of 2021. Most probably the chip will be the heart of the smartphone ranging from $200 to $300.
