These games bring more joy and excitement when played with friends. But due to the pandemic situation we might be far away from our partners in crime. However, we can make sure we communicate, share our strategy and play along with them. Therefore, apps like Discord come into use which help bridge a gap between friends.

What is Discord?

Discord is among the popular group chatting apps, originally made to give gamers a room to communicate. Though it was launched in 2015 it gained a huge popularity during the pandemic. It lets friends communicate directly via voice, video, or text, and join servers where larger groups (communities) can interact together.

Discord evolved as a gamers centric platform but almost anyone can download and use it. Here each community is called “server”. Servers are filled with text and voice channels. Users can share videos, images, music, links, screen and more.

Usually a server consists of multiple channels and those channels have a dedicated topic of their own. There are thousands of different Discord servers with multiple channels dedicated to different topics.

Every server is highly customizable where admins can add bots, specify permissions and give roles to server members.  But wait, how can you make your own discord server?  If you don’t have answers, get along with us.
