Lenovo officially entered into gaming smartphone segment after launching its first gaming phone under the Legion brand. The smartphone is labeled Lenovo Legion Phone Duel (Legion Pro in China). It has been launched after the months of teaser and speculations. The highlight of Legion Phone Duel is side-mounted popup camera, which is logical place as most popular games are played in landscape mode. Thus, enabling you to live stream. Similarly, it comes with other eye catching specs.

Display and Design

The Legion Phone Duel is built around 6.65” FHD+ AMOLED display with a 240Hz touch sampling rate and 144Hz refresh rate. The display features a dual front stereo speakers ensuring you get the best of your gaming experience. However, the display has minimal bezels. Similarly, the display comes with fingerprint reader underneath.

Around the back, there is multi color LED beneath the Legion “Y” logo to represent gaming aesthetic. Adding to gaming aesthetic, there are pressure sensitive side triggers.

Moving on, the signature side-mounted front facing camera is a 20MP sensor. This allows user to obtain full screen experience. As the Legion Duel is targeted for gamers, they would prefer using a device in a landscape orientation. Thus, allows gamers to stream with live video recording. Also, the phone features 4 mics for optimal sound recording.

For Imaging on the rear, it spots dual camera setup located in the middle. The setup includes 64MP primary sensor complemented by 16MP ultra-wide shooter with 120-degree field-of-view. The primary lens is limited to capture [email protected] only. However, the chipset used can support 8k footage.

Performance and Hardware

On the inside, we have new Qualcomn Snapdragon 865 Plus teamed up with up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB UFS 3.1 storage. The Snapdragon 865+ promises 10% CPU and GPU boast compare to Snapdragon 865.

Lenovo has also packed dual X-axis vibration motors called “U-Engine”  with ultrasonic touch sensitive sensors promising 100 types of long vibration patterns and 13 kinds of low response ones. Similarly, to cool the device after intensive gaming it spots advanced cooling system with two copper heat pipes.

Battery and Miscellaneous

The Legion Phone Duel is fueled with 5,000mAh battery separated into two 2,500mAh cells. Both the cells are placed on either side of motherboard. It supports blazing fast 90W charging which the company claims can charge form 0-100% in just 30 minutes. To achieve that you need to plug in the charger in two USB-C ports, one located at the button of the phone and another opposite to pop-up selfie cam on the side. Lenovo calls it “Twin Turbo Power System”.


The Legion Duel is a 5G ready phone that can take advantage of the sub 6GHz spectrum. Similarly, it spots Wi-Fi 6 which can work together with 5G connection to bring fast download speeds. Moreover, other connectivity option includes 4G LTE, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS and NFC

The Legion Duel is offered in “Vengeance Red” and “Blazing Blue” color. It will go on sale in China starting on August 5 and is up for pre-order in China. There is four different option available. Starting with 8/128GB variant, it is priced at CNY 3,499. There’s a 12/128GB variant for CNY 3,899 and adding CNY 300 will get you 12/256GB variant. Lastly, the high end 16/512GB model is going for CNY 5,999.

And the bad news, the phone is made available in the selected market only. Thus, we are not sure if it makes to Nepalese market or not if it does you should be ready to spend around Rs. 70,000, Rs. 75,000, Rs. 80,000 and Rs. 1,10,000 for 8/128GB, 12/128GB, 12/256GB and 16/512GB respectively.
