LG rolls out with third dual screen smartphone V60 ThinQ 5G. Unlike Galaxy folds and other folding device the second display. It is a part of a case that can be separated from the main phone whenever you don’t want it.
This V60 ThinQ 5G comes with the latest Snapdragon 865 chipset and supports 5G connectivity. It’s optimized for Sub-6 5G networks and ultra-fast mmWave. The device I couple with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of built-in storage with microSD expansion.
In the design department it packs a large 6.8” FHD+ OLED panel with 20:5.9 aspect ratio. No fancy high refresh rate screen is found here. The screen has a small notch which holds a 10 MP selfie camera. Talking about the secondary display, it is of same size and resolution. Primary screen also holds a built-in fingerprint reader and features Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
A larger F1/1.7” 64 MP main camera with optical image stabilization. Also a 13 MP ultrawide camera providing a 117 degree field of view. And a time-of-flight depth sensor is present in the rear portion of the device. In low light, the camera bines the pixel to produce 16 MP images to help combat noise. The phone features HDR10+ in manual mode and is capable of 8K video recording.
V60 ThinQ is IP68 dust and water resistant having a dedicated Google Assistant shortcut key on the left hand side. It still includes the hi-fi headphone jack 32 Bit Quad DAC, balanced stereo speakers and a 4 microphone setup (on the top, bottom, left, and back), allowing it to produce 3D audio alongside your video clips.. It equips a 5,000 mAh battery and supports Quick Charge 4+ as well as wireless charging. It runs on Android 10 with LG UX 9.0.
More about the secondary display, it connects via the USB-C port. Previously, only LG’s apps could utilize the dual screen. But now Google apps works on the wide view mode that spans both display at once. Multitasking is supported in both the screens. While playing games additional screen can be used a game pad fully customization where all the buttons go. There is a small outer display for time and notification for Dual Screen case.
So, LG V60 will be available in blue and white colors and will be seen in the market in later spring whereas the pricing and availability is yet to be disclosed.
