ASUS has launched its latest flagship phone and it arrives as the Zenfone 8. It is the same company that manufactures gaming phones (ROG) and gaming laptops. The new flagship is a smaller phone that delivers power pack performance. So let’s dive into the specs, features and expected price of Zenfone 8 in Nepal along its availability.
Zenfone 8 Overview
Asus is a company who listens to their customer requirement and the Zenfone 8 a compact phone is born. This phone presents a small form factor with no significant compromises on the device. You can call it the Mini IPhone 12 of the Android world.
Display and Design
This compact phone presents a 5.9-inch AMOLED screen in a frame that is just 148mm tall and 68.5mm wide. It is a E4 display from Samsung with 1080p resolution and 20:9 aspect ratio. Likewise, the panel flaunts a 120Hz refresh rate and a 204Hz touch sampling rate. It is a punch hole display with HDR10+ certification, covers 112% of the DCI-P3 color gamut and comes with well-calibrated colors. It’s a quite bright display with a peak brightness of 1,100 nits. Similarly, the fingerprint reader is integrated on the display. Further, the screen is protected by a thin sheet of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and supports glove touch.
In terms of design, the rear panel is curved to make it more comfortable to hold. The frosted matte back keeps the fingerprint at minimum, features a camera hump and an Asus ZenFone branding. Likewise, the frame is also made of matte aluminum.
The Zenfone 8 has a blue-colored power button which can be configured to trigger three different actions. However, the phone is available in Obsidian Black and Horizon Silver finishes, the latter shifts color depending on the angle light rays land on it. The handset is also IP68 certified for dust and water resistance.
Performance and Memory
ZenFone 8 is driven by Qualcomm’s most powerful mobile SoC, Snapdragon 888 processor. It pairs with Adreno 660 to handle the graphics. The handset is available with up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Similarly, there’s a 64GB storage option that uses a comparatively slower UFS 2.1 technology.
Linking the hardware is the Android 11 with ZenUI 8 out of the box. Likewise, the company has sought to enhance the user experience with a plethora of built-in customizations.
The phone features two cameras on its back led by a 64MP sensor. It is the same Sony IMX686 sensor used in Zenfone 7 generation. It has 0.8µm pixels and clicks 16MP shots using Quad Bayer filter, Dual Pixel Autofocus and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). This lens can record 8K video at 24fps (with EIS enabled). 4K/60 fps is also available along 1080p/60 fps with HyperSteady.
The secondary camera here is a 12MP Sony IMX363 f/2.2 sensor with ½.55” sensor size. It has 1.4µm pixels, dual pixel autofocus and its lens also supports 4cm macro photography.
For the front-facing camera, ASUS has put a 12MP Sony IMX663 imager inside the hole in the left corner. It has a 1.22µm pixel size and Dual PDAF too. Here both the ultrawide and front camera can record 4K videos at 60fps and 30fps respectively.
Battery and Miscellaneous
Fueling the whole package is a 4000mAh battery with support for 30W HyperCharge via a USB-C port. Similarly, Quick charge 4.0 and USB Power Delivery PPS are supported as well. The box ships with a 30W adapter inside. The handset features three charging profiles that you can choose from including Scheduled Charging which lets you choose when the phone should begin charging when plugged in.
Father, there’s no compromise on the audio aspect of the Zenfone 8. The phone packs stereo speakers, Dirac HD sound technology, dual Cirrus Logic CS23L45 amplifiers, and Hi-Res Audio along with the beloved headphone jack slot. The amplifiers provide increased volume and a higher bass with better power optimization. Similarly, the Audio Wizard app lets you choose from four sound profiles scenario effect and 10 customizable equalizers.
Furthermore, the triple mic system features OZO Audio Zoom and Noise reduction tech.
Lastly, the phone supports multiple 5G bands, latest Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2 with aptX Adaptive and dual nano Sim slot.

The Zenfone 8 comes in four configurations, whereas it starts retailing at €599 for 6/128GB. Meanwhile the top notch 16/256GB model retails at €799.
Looking at the past, the device is unlikely to launch in Nepal officially. However, we expect the Asus Zenfone 8 price in Nepal to be around NPR 90,000, if it gets available here.
